Sephora’s Play! subscription box has been a favorite of mine for over 2 years. When I first joined, I was added to a waitlist and notified nearly 3 months later they had a spot for me. Each month, I pay $10 to receive a custom bag and 5 samples based on the profile selections you make when you sign up. You can join Play! here —-> https://www.sephora.com/product/play-subscription-P396286
June was a typical box. I receive a cute, drawstring bag to hold my samples, a Clinique makeup remover, setting powder, styling cream by Living Proof, a Too Faced lipgloss, a lotion, and a one time use packet of shampoo and conditioner.
First, I used the shampoo & conditioner. These were very small samples and didn’t include enough product for my thick hair. I had to supplement with my own shampoo. While there was nothing wrong with the quality of the shampoo and conditioner, they are probably not a product I would buy. Read about my favorite shampoo here —>
The lipgloss and makeup remover are two products I receive very regularly in my Play! box. While the lipgloss color wasn’t for me, I gave it away to someone who loved its dark color. CONFESSION: I actually receive so much makeup remover that I rarely buy any.
Look how cute the bag was this month!
The powder was the perfect travel size for summer and I can’t wait to try it out! While the Living Proof hair product is something I will probably give away.
The Bum Bum cream (lotion) is one of my favorite products I have ever received. It has a thick texture which covers the skin very well and I love the beauty smell! This sample jar was a good size and I got multiple uses out of it. During my last trip to Sephora, I picked up a normal sized jar of my own! HACK: I kept the travel size jar to refill for continued convent use. You can purchase a jar here —-> https://amzn.to/2L1nd4u
After trying all your products, Sephora gives you a card which gives you 50 bonus points on any product you purchase that month (doesn’t have to be something in the box) which I love because after you receive 100 points you can select a sample product from Sephora! Read what I bought recently with points here —>
You can also redeem this card for some personal attention at your local Sephora! Go in and learn from a professional how to use the products in the box! NOTE: an appointment may be required so check with your local Sephora.
VERDICT: Will I continue to buy the Sephora Play! box? Absolutely, I love receiving travel size products in the mail each month to try out. Going into Sephora (or any beauty store) can be overwhelming and it’s often hard to break away and try new products. The only downside is, you really need someone to pass the samples you don’t use on to or they will really pile up.
