Nashville, Tennessee is a short 3 hours or so from Lexington making it for an easy for a quick getaway spot. We spent our 5th anniversary there and have grown pretty fond of the town immersed in country music. Music pours almost every doorway and you will find all the drinks you can stand by walking down Broadway.

Nashville is the type of city that makes you want to sing out loud to all the tunes your mom listened to when you were a kid. Next thing you know, you’ll be drinking wine and eating popcorn at the Grand Ole Opry. (or is that just me? Popcorn and wine is a pretty good combo, I must say.) If your ever in town, stop by the opry for a tour or grab a show. You won’t be disappointed.
If you don’t know where to stay, you can always grab a luxurious room at the Gaylord Opryland Resort. This past weekend we grabbed a last minute upgrade to a balcony and it didn’t disappoint. A trip to the spa is also a must and a reason for this last minute getaway. We love the couples massage at the full service spa. You really could make a day of it enjoying the sauna & the steam shower (my personal favorite). Unwind inside one of the relaxation rooms where they have self-serve chocolate, trail mix, and tea. Regardless of the service you choose, you won’t be disappointed. I never am.
The hubby and I have tried almost every restaurant on the property and nothing has been bad. This past weekend we tried the steakhouse for the first time. It is designed like an old southern plantation home (my absolute favorite house style & the type I harass the hubby for weekly). A cheese professional (I have no idea her actual title) visited our table and we selected three fabulous cheeses to enjoy with champagne. Per usual, it was followed up with salad & steak (filet of course). Other food favorites include the breakfast buffet served in the Auditorium and Italian.

Take time to walk thru the gardens enjoying the waterfalls and gold fish swimming in the ponds. Recently, the opened an indoor waterpark on the property and I may or may not have snuck down to take a peak. We will definitely be making a trip back to enjoy it.
Other favorite places to stop include the Belle Meade Plantation, the Ryman Auditorium, & the Bluebird Cafe.
